The British Isles

I never got tired of the ruins, whether it be castles or abbeys. I loved them all. I was tempted to include more of the pictures I took (almost 550) in this site but I decided to take mercy on all those who dare to browse these pages. If you've never been to the British Isles you're missing something very special.

The Monster

 Old church Caernarfon Castle

Caernarfon Castle

This is Avis's idea of the perfect car for two people to travel the back roads of England and Wales. It sat 6 people for goodness sakes. This was a church I spotted on our way to Caernarfon Castle. Almost all of the churches we have seen in the British Isles are very old and beautiful. Caernarfon Castle in northern Wales was spectacular. There were towers, tunnels, passageways and museums throughout. Wonderful! We wandered all through this grand castle. We did arrive late in the afternoon but they let us in anyway. This was my second favorite castle.

Caernarfon Castle

Medals of Valor in museum

Caernarfon Castle

Building mural

Caernarfon Castle is huge and you were allowed to walk everywhere. These past and present medals of valor were in the museum. The museum took up many floors in one of the towers. It was like following a path for buried treasure.. I'd love to visit this castle again. I'd want to spend a lot more time wandering and exploring. In Caernarfon we stayed at the Prince of Wales Inn. This building was across the street. Great mural.
View heading south in Wales

The Beacon

Lucy Danielle Jackson

Lucy (4 1/2yrs) and James (7 yrs)
This was another fantastic road side view. We were heading south on our way to Machynlleth. This is the back entrance way to The Beacon B&B in Brecon Wales. Wonderful town. The streets went every which way. This is Lucy Danielle Jackson. She's the 4 year old daughter of the B&B's owner. She was a delight. We had a pillow fight in the livingroom. Lucy and James (7 yr old brother) wanted to be involved with everything. Every time we went out to our car, they wanted to go too.

Bridge over Severn River to England

Bath, England

Roman Baths

 Abby near Roman Baths

This is the bridge over the Severn River heading to Bristol England. It was about 4 miles long. Bath England is a beautiful city. This is a view of the Roman Baths and Spa that have be excavated. The Roman Baths used to be covered but now it's open and these statures rim the top. This abbey is right beside the Roman Baths.
Furnace room Wonderful buildings

 Bridge St. over Avon River

 Tammy and Teddybear

The Romans had a very complicated system for warming the waters. This was one of the furnace rooms. All the buildings seemed to be elaborate and detailed. This is a view of Bridge St. going over the Avon River. Even though it is a bridge, it's lined with shops and stores. Tammy posing with a (very large) Yeoman Teddy bear in Bath.
